William Charles (Charlie) Gagnon was one of seven siblings to graduate from SHHS. 

He was president of his senior class, lettered in basketball and baseball and graduated in 1952. 

His three sons also graduated from SHHS in 1983, 84, 85. 

He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and received the National Defense Medal.

He was Past President of the International Slurry Surfacing Association and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Kansas Contractors Association.

He was an active and successful leader of business, community and Alma Mater throughout his life. He served on the Council of Education for multiple years. A founder of the SHHS endowment he served on its board of directors from inception over 2 decades. Also a founder of the Bishop George K. Fitzsimons Golf Tournament he teamed with Bishop George himself to win the second annual event. 

He was recognized as Distinguished Alumni in 1987 for outstanding service to Alma Mater. His contributions to Sacred Heart continue after his passing in 2015.
